My study plan for week one was to continue to study with small study groups, teach others what i have learned, and by making flashcards. With my new short term goal i wouldn't change anything i would just add a study session that would be for review but with only myself!
ReplyDeleteI am not currently in any organizations and because i just started college my only hobbie thus far is studying! I would like to be miss collegate 100, apart of sga, and some sort of community service activity. I am very good at balancing my agenda when i have to. The first thing i would do is prioritize, then make myself a daily schedule to stay on top of everything.
-Jasmine Hardman*
1. My study plan is pretty simple throughout the week. I study at school the whole time im there and once I get back to my room I decide whether im too tired to study or if I feel energized enough to go at it. If I am too tired I take a short nap because if I study while I am sleepy I don't retain the information as well. I usually get back at around 6 and I study uninterrupted until at least 7 depending on how much homework I have. From then on I study on and off until around 9 or later quizing myself to make sure i havent forgotten any of the information. On the weekends I usually study when I wake up and I take a break in the middle of the day then I study again in the evening and have the night to myself for a little while before I go to sleep which is pretty early now that I have to get up so early.
ReplyDelete2. I have done a few community service activities which I enjoy but I haven't joined any clubs or organizations just yet. I was thinking about joining the choir but I want to wait until next year to do that and I want to seek more information about the radio and broadcasting organization.
1) My study plan would still consist of rereading the text on the subject that was taught to me and created my own visuals. But I am also going to create study groups with my peers and utilize student support services.
ReplyDelete2)I am currenylt volunteering for the Miss Collegiate 100 pagent. I am also going to audition for the production of Ms. Evers Boys. Earlier today at the Mass Comm meeting I signed oup for a Black Journalists of America group. I also plan on going Greek. In order to make time for these activities, I am going to do assigned homework immediately after they are given and try to get a jump start on other homework that is due in the future so that I will stay ahead.

ReplyDelete1. well so far my study plan from week 1 has been working. I was able to participate in all my classes this week and i did good on a pop quiz in col. algebra (which isn't my strong suit) But Dr. buckles did suggest instead of taking notes while i read the chapters to read the chapter all the way through then close the text and write down all i can from my reading. it acts a test to see how well you retain and understand the information i just read.
2.as of today, im a cheerleader, and i just found out i got in honors program (im happy about that) :) I went to the lytrigcal dance team informational and im thinking about mayb joining a science club. I've been reading and taking notes after classes and during lunch and dinner. and the library doesn't close until 11 so i go there and find a table in the corner and just read and make notes...and i pay close attention in class for sure!!!
1.Well my study plan has always worked for me so no revisions are needed.
ReplyDelete2.I plan to be apart of SGA. If electedd my study habits shouldn't need to change because i do most of my studying during lunch and over the weekend
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteGreat comments on your study plan, however i'd like to see more correlation to the learning styles assessment in your text beginning on page 42. After week 1's discussion, classmates took the assessment, and found that their learning style didn't match what they thought, so their suggestions change a bit. Take the assessment then look up suggested activities in that chapter and see the differences or similarities, then ammend your post.
Ms. Rutherford
1. My study plan has succeeded so far. Last week I did great on both of my quizzes. I said that I was going to take good notes and study in a quiet environment, both of which helped, because one of my quizzes was an open note and the other required me to learn a lot of information; a task I would not have been able to do without peace and quiet. I believe that if I stick to my study plan, I will continue to make progress. After taking the assessment I configured that I am an interpersonal person, so I guess my study habit depends on what type of work I'm doing.
ReplyDelete2. As of now I am not involved in any activities or organizations at the school. However, I am looking forward to joining a science club or volunteer organization. Usually, my most time consuming work is done during the week, or after the class. Therefore, if a meeting for the club or organization is on the weekend, I’ll be fine. If not, I will set my priorities and attend meetings when my work is done. I know what I am capable of doing, so I will never take on more than I can handle.
1. personally i belive that my study plan has not been put into effect yet. My peers are constantly telling me that they have no home work, so i have no one to study wit. They belive just because a professor does not give them any work they dont have any and that is not the case.
ReplyDelete2. I am Parlimentarian of the Freshpersons class council and a memebr of the poetry club on campus. I also plan to become a member of many more orginizations around campus. i dont belive this will affect my studying, mainly because i know how to manage my time well.

ReplyDelete1. So far, I have not been able to put my study plan into effect. Most of my friends are in totally different classes. However, as the year continues, I plan to form small study groups with some of my classmates.
2. Currently I am not apart of any organizations. However, I do plan on participating maybe next semester. I want to focus on my school work and develop a steady study habit.
Shautera Clofer,
ReplyDelete1. I think as of now my study plan would be pretty much the same. So far i've benn getting with buddies and taking time between classes to get homework snd studying done. Only thing I would change is the studying, I would actually do that more.
2. I really think that this year I will stay put. I wont really join any organizations now, because just blancing school and work alone is enough. If I was to do too much I feel I would have a "Melt Down"!
To Andrew:
ReplyDeleteI like the way you manage your time out to study. You seem like you got it in the bag and you have set times, thats very organized.
TO Chardai.... developing a good study plan is the key to success.... no matter who you have to study with just study... keep up the good work....
ReplyDeleteTo Alex Moore... you have really put your study plan into effect.. every time i see you , you are doing exactly what you say your doing and that is studying!!!!
To Bridget... Whao.... slow down on the xtra curricular activities... thats a lot... but if you can handle them i say go for it all..
to be honest,im really not into the clubs and organizations.i believe in just coming to school and getting my education so that i can excell in academics.
ReplyDeleteJohnathan Watson
To Chardai:I am kind of on the same page your on.im just focused on managing my grades so that i can keep my scholarship!

1. My study plan will consist of reading my textbooks and rereading my lecture notes. i will read my books and notes many times, or until i understand the material.
ReplyDelete2. I would like to join a specific club, yet i am unsure if i should say!
1. My study plans will be relatively simple
ReplyDelete- Most of my assignments and reading will take place here in Dillards Library9i usually stay late after classes into the evening hours)
- Because i have other obligations to tend to and i can easily end up distracted at home, i will be doing mostly review at home, and not the actual bulk of studying.
-When i am on break at work, i will do little reviews here and there(whatever is feasible within my 35 minute break period)
-and whenever else i have time studying will take place!
2. I would like to join religiously affiliated groups, student government-oriented, cultural and other groups of my interest. I am currently a member and director of public relations for the African World Network Organization(AWNO) here at D.U.

1. MY study plan is to simply take notes in class and when i get home i rewrite and go over my notes.
2.As of now, i do not want to get involved in any activities or organizations because i want to get the feel of the college life before i take on something that may be overwhelming.
To Mikcal,
ReplyDeleteI don't think that you should have to study with friends for your study plan to be put into effect. If no one wants to study or do homework with you, there is no reason why you can't study alone. Personally, I think that studying by yourself is the most efficient way.
To Bridget,
First off, CONGRATS!! But i agree with Mikcal, that does sound like a lot of extracurricular activities. However, it seems like you plan to stay focused. Remember to keep your priorities first.
1. My study plan did not require much revisions from the first week. I already knew what kind of learner I was; I just didn't have a name for it. I just have to make sure that I pay attention, talk to my instructors when I don't understand something, and i have to continue to read, study and go over my notes.
ReplyDelete2. I am not currently involved in any extra curricular activities. That is not the norm for me, so hopefully as time progresses I will become more involved in the school community. This semester I plan on just trying to adjust to evertyhing, but hopefully in the future I'll get involved in some service organizations.
1. To Bridget: Congratulaions on getting into the honors program!
ReplyDelete2. To Mikcal: I agree with Alexandria in that you shouldn't waith for others to put your study plan into effect. Maybe you don't study as well by yourself as you do in a group. It's still better to study any kind of way rather than to do nothing at all.
3. To a lot of the other posts: I can understand how most people don't just jump right into things and want to make sure that they can adjust first. Its cool, because I'm right there too.
Bianca Young,
ReplyDelete1)My study plan from week one has proving to be effective. With that said there is no reason I would revise my study habits. My study plan is actually fairly simply. It consists of taking detailed notes in each of my classes, going over them daily, reading the text, and just remaining organized.
2)Currently I am not a part of any organizations. However I do plan on becoming active in organizations and some on campus activities soon!! As of now I am extremely good with effectively managing my time, and I will remain so when becoming active in organizations and activities.
my short term goals are just to be on time for class. to not miss alot of days of school and also to remain a 3.0 average this year. i will try to keep that up by studying really hard and staying away from alot of these wild parties maybe.lol. i do theater so thats my major and hobby but if i had to choose something else it would probably be the fraternities i dont really know yet
ReplyDeletedominique
ReplyDeletecollege is more than notes you have to watch out for parties, drugs, failing friends, etc
My short term goals are to obtain and maintain a 3.0 gpa or higher. Also to become more involved in school activities such as community service. Also to be more focused and turn my asignments in on time. From my study plan I would study in groups and retake my notes.
ReplyDeleteThe actvities that I am currently in is cheerleading..I was interested in student government but was too late in running by the time I found out. How I would balance and organize my time is I would make sure I do my homework and assignments during my breaks and before practice. I know after practice I will be tired.
1. For week one my study plan was to pay close attention while the professor is teaching. Therefore, I will leave my cell phone in my dorm room and not sit by my friends. I also plan study the material daily.
ReplyDeleteI plan to follow the same study plan.
2. I am a part of UNCF. To accommodate the times I plan to study before attending meetings and if I do not have time for the different organizations and clubs I will just have to get out of the clubs and focus on my work.
Angell Luter
ReplyDelete1. My study plan is to still take good notes during class and reread them when I get home. I also would write down things that I don't know so that I can ask questions during the next class.
2. I am only currently in the Honors Program. There is only one meeting every week. This will not intefere with my school work, but I still will organize my time on a calendar.
1.) As of right now, I dont have any changes to make in my study habits because I've continued to keep those same habits.
ReplyDelete2.) Last week, I joined AWSHA, African World Studies and Heritage Association. There is a meeting every Wednesday @ 7 in The Gardens. So far, I like the group, and I don't think it would bother any of my work studies/habits.
1. I believe my plan to get involved in class discussions has helped me. It helps me learn and get involved in what we were learning. As for teachers that only teach verbally, I think I should buy a tape recorder and record what they've lectured about. It also helps to read the chapters before the day of the class. I think I will be very successful this semester and the next with my plan.
ReplyDelete2. I joined AWSHA (African World Studies and Heritage Association) and NCNW (National Council of Negro Women). I truely believe I will have plenty of time for these organizations. As long as I stay focus, put up my note cards and put dates in my planner, I think I will find time. I finish my work early and turn it in early so I can have time for other things that I may want to do. All I need to do now is learn "My Fair Dillard".
jessica1291,
ReplyDeleteHow do you plan to keep up with organizations that you joined? Will you use a planner or keep dates and times in your phone? What helps you to "not forget" your studies?
Tequila,
ReplyDeleteDid the clubs not give you a list of events that may be approaching in a month or a couple of weeks? If they gave you a list, it may be easier for you to keep track of everything.
josefpons,
ReplyDeleteAlthough all of what you said is true, it also has to do with time management, peer pressure (be above the influence lol) and just putting priorites first. If you knew today was the biggest party of the year, you would make preparations so you can attend that party. Im sure instructors give their students a notice ahead of time.
1.My short term goal is to maintain a high GPA throughout the semester. My plan is to not only participate in class discussions and take good notes, bbut also to be involved in study groups so that others will be able to help me improve my study habits.
ReplyDelete2.Currently I am not reviewing any activities because my main interest outside of school work is soccer and the school does not have that sport.
josefpons: It is harder than it sounds to avoid certain parties. How can you avoid the influence of your friends?
Dominique: Is taking notes alone really sufficient for doing well in a class?
Shautera: Do you think that the additional activities that come with college will have any effect on your current study habits?
1.) Based on my learning style, I will try to continue to read each chapter before class so that I can know what the teacher is lecturing about. After reading the chapters I take out a tablet and write down a summary of what I've read to better understand the concepts. After writing my summary, I make flash cards to not only memorize but also learn words, charts, etc. Even though I am not a good people person, I am slowly learning to branch out and work in small study groups to also study for classes.
ReplyDelete2.) As of right now I am a member of the Honor's Program. Umm.. I like to post post it notes over my room to help me remember certain meetings and I organize my schedule in my phone. I understand that my academics and GPA comes first so I will be sure to do all my work before attending functions. I would also like to join one of the Biology Clubs.
>>>>Ekebnta: Your right! When I get home I am easily distracted or interrupted by studying whether at 4 o clock I'm trying to catch my favorite episode of the game or another rerun of Real Chance of Love. So this week I'm definetly trying to prioritize and manage my time.
ReplyDelete>>>Jasmine Hardman: Sometimes studying with another person isnt that bad either as long as theyre about learning also.
>>>>Shautera: I think the same way. I attempted to do track but I know how I am and I know that this year I just really need to focus on getting a good GPA and everything else will happen when time allows.

ReplyDelete2.What activities, organizations or hobbies you are currently or would like to be involved in? How will you organize your time to accommodate those activities.
1.My study plan is to study weekly, pay close attention in class ( like i said and try not to space out )...I also learned that my cell phone has to be on vibrate in my drawer so I can really get my work done.
2.I am currenty not in any clubs because I wanted to get a feel of my first year experience first. I would like to be in a club or organization but I am not sure which one as of right now.
Angell Luter:
ReplyDeleteI think your choice of club was a good one and I like how you chose someting that would not interfere with your schedule.
Jessica1291:
I think you have a great study plan. Keep up the good work.
De'ja Hawkins
ReplyDelete1.My study plan is to take notes when my teacher is writing notes on the board go home and study them or between classes. Read my text books from each course and pay close attention to examples and figures given to explain certain things from the class that I must know.
2.Honestly I would love to join some clubs and organizations but I dnt have time for any due to my fall schedrule.
1. My study plan needs to be revised by increasing my time of studying. I thought that I could do just thirty minutes and be done studying but i took a quiz and thats not going to work. Also stop putting off things until I get pressured.
ReplyDelete2.At this time I would not like to be in any organizations until I get better time management skills. I am just trying to settle in to college life. I'm learning to doing things on my own because now there is no one to remind what to do and I am a very forgetful person.
1.) My study plan from week one was the basic study for maybe 2 hours and thats it, but i've found better techniques to study like join a study group,or even to try ways of maybe making a song out of what I had to study, so those are what i'm going to try to get better.

1.) I still plan to review notes from previous class dates. Rewriting has worked pretty well. It isn't a skill that I want to get rid of.
2.) I would like to be in the gospel choir. I want to and will be participating in every theatrical event (play, movie, performance). theatre is my major so the theatre pretty much own me. They basically got me here and I'm stuck for four years {sarcastically}.

#1) My short term academic plans are to continue to balance my time, remain driven, humble and focused, and surround myself around positive people who can infuence my growth. There are many temptations in college, and it's important for me to prioritize my time. By the way, I concur with the majority of you all.....
#2) I am going to start work study as a student tutor for the "STAIRS" Program with Dr. Hill to fullfill my time. Besides that, I stay in the books and consider myself to be kind of reclusive. I want to join different clubs, organizations and groups who condone change. Are their any do you guys have any information about?
1.) My study habits have fallen through the cracks since last time, but I am now ready to seal that crack and make sure that I use my time at Dillard sufficiently in order to maintain the education that I came here for. I typically use my time in between classes to get on Facebook, Myspace, or anything that will take my attention off the fact that I should really be reviewing my notes from my classes. With that my new study plan is to no longer go to my room during the time gaps of my classes, but to go to the library or go and take care of my school related to do list. I tend to work better by myself, but if some of my classmates have formulated a study group I don’t mind joining it. My other new study plan is to make sure I tackle my homework once it is given, I have the habit to wait until the week of or even a few days before to do my homework. This may work for some people, but it only leaves me stressing about what and how I am going to get my work done, which isn’t a good thing to me.
ReplyDelete2.) I would like to get involved with student government and service projects.I want to apart of any organization that is promoting positive social change, and that is going to help me grow as a person and be an effective community leader. My theory around using my time to accommodate these activities is that by the time these activities get underway, I would have a consistent schedule where I will then be able to see what I can fit into my schedule.
1. My study plan consists of reading the required text, taking in-depth notes, and continuing to study with a small group. My study plan has been effective so far, so I will continue to use this method. I will also make notes of things I don’t understand, so while in class I can ask questions to grasp a better understanding.
ReplyDelete2. I’m not currently involved in any activities or organizations; currently I’m focused on having a successful semester. Perhaps in the future I will become more active on campus.
1.) My short term goals are to continue staying focus and going to class on time. I plan on studying for at least three hours a day, doing my homework the day i recieve it, and turning it in on time. Taking good notes and asking questions are also ways for me to be sucessful.
ReplyDelete2.) I would like to get involved in student government. I am currently the girls basketball manager, working on side of Coach Rome and Coach Kiki. I organize my time by getting rest and doing my homework way before it's do. Mainly because of the fact that we have to be there at the gym every morning for five.

ReplyDeleteI like how you decide to take notes when the teacher is writing them on the board and then you go home and study them or between classes.
Ellissia
It's good that you are now able to seal the cracks for you to be able to have great study habits. Just stay focus and ask questions when needed.
1.My study plan is to read my notes and focus more on the important information.
ReplyDelete2.I currently do not have an interest in clubs or organizations.
Week 3 Discussion Questions
ReplyDelete1.Consider your short term goal to have a successful semester, learning style and 168 hours per week. Use the information to revise your study plan from Week 1 (Post Plan)
So far I haven’t put any kind of plan into action, I just do my work and the things that I am suppose to do. If I plan, I won’t do it; simply because it’s a planned thing. I just study and do things as they are given to me. I successfully manage and get it all done, with time. I really don’t plan on making a study plan because I feel like I don’t need it I only did it for this class because I had to. It was fun though.
2.What activities, organizations or hobbies you are currently or would like to be involved in? How will you organize your time to accommodate those activities.
Currently I am involved in cross country and track and field. I was running at the beginning of the year, but I have a health problem and am in need of surgery in October. So I am the assistant manager until after my surgery and rehab. I don’t really organize my time, my schedule is fit for me to accommodate this particular activity.

ReplyDelete1. I'm actually quite content with the study plan from week one. I believe that I give myself enough time to get work done without stressing about anything.
2. Activities I would like to be involved in are the mock trial and maybe a club if one sparks my interest. I will orhganize my time by seeing what time the activity rehearsals take place and adjusting my free time to basically do what I have to do.

ReplyDeleteTo Tan-Talaysha,
Aren't the student support services in Henson?
Sorry but I have no idea whether there are student support services in Henson but to answer the question at hand, My study plan is to spend time and find study groups. One of my most comprehensive class I have is African World Studies. I have a group of people that I study with to get the job done. We all help each other and it really relieves alot of stress as a student. I will also spend alot of my free time making sure I have the best grades possible.
ReplyDelete1.Consider your short term goal to have a successful semester, learning style and 168 hours per week. Use the information to revise your study plan from Week 1 (Post Plan)
ReplyDeleteI pretty much have the same plan. I know that my plan of getting more organized will help me better prepare myself for my classes. So that way I will have more time to study instead of forgetting it and trying to cram.
2.What activities, organizations or hobbies you are currently or would like to be involved in? How will you organize your time to accommodate those activities.
As of right now the only activities that I do outside of Dillard is ROTC. i don't want to join anything else right now because I'm trying to get into the groove college life and I don't want to take on too many things. Maybe next year or next semester, I'll get into more things.
1) Destiny D.,
ReplyDeleteI think that you should get more organized I don't want you to fall back because I know what that is like that's why I'm trying to get more organized myself. there is nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed with schoolwork.
2) Tan-Talaysha,
To answer your question the student support services is in Henson Hall.
3) Jamie Renee,
I think i'm going to follow your study schedule. It seems like it makes things less stressful and I really don't need anymore stress.
1. Short term goals would be great for this semester. It would help me become succeful and not want to procrastinate. With this being my first semester in college I will always set short term goals to stay on track and meet those goals.
ReplyDelete2. As of now i am not participating in anything. I plan to be more involved once I learn to balance my work load. I have just been studying, learning the history of dillard and spending time with family in New.
1. I want to become the perfect student. I plan to spend more time in the library or somewhere studying and less time sleeping... Its gonna be hard.. but I WILL MAKE IT
ReplyDelete2.I want to be apart of the student government and chemistry club. I do not have a really busy schedule so it will be easy to accomodate these activities.

ReplyDelete1) I would try to decrease my dead hours spent in my friends room, and our unfocused "Study Hours". I would make designated hours for each subject each day i.e. Algebra, 1 hr, WTF etc.
2) I am currently not in any organizations, but i am interested in S.K.I.R.T.S. and if there is ever any interferance with the organization and my school work, I will gladly ask the sec. for the minutes on the meeting or get the info that was attained through someone else.
This is LaMegan Smith...
ReplyDelete1) I have not put my study plan into effect yet. But as of now, I am reviewing the material that the professors are giving me. I have also read the text books and I am making notes of my own.
2) I am currently a dancer for Dance Elite and a cadet in the ROTC program. I am also interested in other organizations such as UNCF and S.K.I.R.T.S. I dont believe that my involvement in these organizations will interfere with my schoolwork because I try to manage my time to the best of my abilities.
1.) There are really 168 hours in the week? Okay, my study plan is to take advantage of having the same major as my roommate. Every night we quiz each other on different notes from different course. I think if you look over your notes everyday it'll be a help to you as they begin to increase.I also write my notes over neatly whenever I have time out of class because it helps me remember them.
ReplyDelete2.)Currently, I am not engaged in any organaztions or activities outside my school work. I plan to join different organzations whenever I complete my transition from high school to college. As of right now I am somewhat in the middle and just starting to get use of being away from home. I would love to know some organzations you all recommend though.
1. My study plan to be sucessful this semester is to re-read the text read in class, take good notes, and study materials learned for atleast 30 min for each subject.Study groups will also be used when preparing myself for test and quizes.
ReplyDelete2. Currently, I participate with the track team, and joined the social group NCNW (the national council of negro women. For me, it is not very hard to participate in these activities because I only joined groups that fit with my school schedule. Track practice is either early in the morning or late afternoon; and the NCNW is in the evenening time. My extra curricular activites don't cause me any problems.
1. My study plan to be sucessful in this semster is to study, read, and write in a right otherly fashion. I plan on studying all day everyday to 2013. Preparing myself for any test or quiz that the professors throw at me.
ReplyDelete2. What organizations does Dillard have? I don;t see any step show, campigning, cheerleading shows, greek clubs, and other normal college organizations. As of now, no club in my mind, but club study.
Bridget,
ReplyDeleteDid you try Dr. Buckles suggestion?
How did it work?
1) I think it is really important to re-read the text like most of you are saying because what people tend to do is read over text and not absorb some of the important information so each time you read it you may learn somethin you didnt read before.
ReplyDelete2) Taking notes is very important too. Putting information you have learned in your own words can give you a better understanding of the material and help you remember it for tests and what not.
3) Studying is important but so is sleeping. Without a good night's rest your brain won't function correctly and the information you try to retain by studying will jus be lost due to your brain overworking. Jus like your body needs rest so does your brain.
1.Consider your short term goal to have a successful semester, learning style and 168 hours per week. Use the information to revise your study plan from Week 1 (Post Plan)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't necessarily change my study plan. In order for it to work, I have to get away from my friends for a while.
2.What activities, organizations or hobbies you are currently or would like to be involved in? How will you organize your time to accommodate those activities.
I am currently involved in the Pre-Alumni Council. We have weekly meetings on Wednesdays and weekend activities. I will do my homework throughout the week so that stopping to attend meetings won't affect my work.
1. I like my study plan. When i study, its mostly in a group. Even when im at work i have time to study to.
ReplyDelete2.I am currently not involved in anything yet. I do plan on being involved in activities.
1. MY REVISED STUDY PLAN
ReplyDeleteVerbal-Linguistic
-Use some of my extra hours from my 168 hour week to talk more with my professors during their office hours
-Spend time conversing with friends about things I learned that they have no knowledge of; If I can provide them with enough information so that they can understand the new lesson than I have a good understanding of it myself
Intrapersonal
-Since friends can sometime be a distraction for me, I should study alone and do homework alone so I can accomplish more, in a shorter period of time
Interpersonal
-Form a study group with NEW people and gather at least 3 times per week
2. I am currently enrolled in the Thompson/Cook Honors Program and I plan to join S.K.I.R.T.S (Sisters Keeping It Real Through Service). S.K.I.R.T.S. is a community service organization catering to young women in underserved communities. SKIRTS, Inc. conducts a series of workshops designed to promote self-esteem, develop self-awareness, and build professional and leadership skills. In addition, participants attend various functions that allow them to demonstrate their level of growth and maturity. Most importantly, the organization both coordinates and participates in community service projects designed to help others who are less fortunate. SKIRTS, Inc. is committed to exposing its participants to positive experiences that will successfully acclimate them into mainstream society.
My learning style requires me to study hard because i work best by myself . I rely only on me bcuse many have disappointed me when it comes to a group activity and one isnt on the same page , and then another person have to pick up the other person slack . So , i need to visually see things and sometimes i need it to be repeated . I have balanced out my time for studying and leisure time . Sometimes my leisure time interfers and so i end up finshing up homework later than usual . So , now i need to make a time schedule for my homework so that my leisure time wont clash with whats important .
ReplyDelete2. Im currently very interresed in joining the S.K.I.R.T.S ... and If iam given the chance to do soi ill have to alter my schedule so i wont feel swamped .
answer # 1: my short term goal to have a successful semester is trying to be more organized...managing my time...having better study habits...seeking help when it's needed...
ReplyDeleteanswer # 2: i am currently in Dillard's Concert choir and aslo Vision Quest...both take up a lot of time out of my day...and justb recently i've started my work study so time have become an issue but i never give up on what i love...im a surviver...
i agree with everyone because we all have different ways of coping with time and how we manage time is different...so yea...
ReplyDeleteMy learning style is intrapersonal, meaning inner-directed. I do a lot of my best thinking and processing in my own head rather than in conversation.
ReplyDeleteMy lovely wife coordinated all of the information in my six syllabuses (syllabi) into one binder for me. My job is to manage my own time so that everything gets done from week to week. Every day I look at what has to be done that week, and then I decide what parts of that I can get done today.
I'm in this semester's drama production, Miss Evers' Boys, starring Canae White in the title role and premiering Friday, November 6th. We rehearse five nights a week from six to nine. So I get pretty busy. My homework has to get done in between classes and rehearsal, and on the weekends when I have more uninterrupted time.
2. What activities, organizations or hobbies you are currently or would like to be involved in? How will you organize your time to accommodate those activities?
ReplyDeleteI would like to be involved in a number of the entertaining organizations. Such as the theatre arts or dance maybe even some of the fraternities, those that are on campus. I would also like to be apart of the NAACP program here to get scholarships and to be able to network through certain people. I have considered myself to be a well rounded individual that’s in a little bit of everything. So what ever I get into I am up for it.

ReplyDeleteI think studying in the library is a great idea and I will try it. It is much quieter there and I wont be easily distracted.
@ Mikcal
I agree when you say that it is hard to find someone to study with. Most of my friends never study or even attempt to read the text from their classes so its hard to have discussions with them about it.
@ Lance Breaux

1) According to my learning styles results, one way that I could study better is by reading out loud to myself. I have been using this method, and so far it has helped. I find that I can remember what I read more often if I read out loud.

If and when I do begin to participate in these activites, I will have to better manage and organize my time. ReplyDelete1. My study plan would basically stay the same. I would still try to do the most I can through note taking, flash cards, etc. And continue to write down any problems that I have since seeing things on paper seem to be the only way for me to grasp the concept.
2. In my high school I participated in the choir so I thought that would be an enjoyable thing for me to do at Dillard. But I know my limits and I understand that I do not have time for any extra curricular activities and this time, but I do hope to be able to do so in the near future.
