QEP Gumbo Tales Assignment

QEP Topic: Communication Skills Enhancement Grounded in Critical Thinking
Theme: “Can I Text You the World”

Questions: How has social networking transformed the ways we communicate and transmit information in an increasingly global society?

ESSAY Theme Topic: Gumbo Tales provides a snapshot of both the inter-workings and nuances of New Orleans culture. The text uses food as the vehicle through which to expose and examine the New Orleans community. If one were to use social networking sites like facebook, myspace, and electronic messaging (delivered via text) to examine the culture and practices of a given community (for example, the newest class of Dillard University Students), what would they discover?

Question: Write an analytical critique of the use of any one aspect of a society (food, technology, music, etc) as an adequate tool for explaining the culture of the group. Offer the ways in which this approach would be both effective and ineffective.- (will posted on line)

Email as an attatchment (MS WORD) on or before 10 a.m. Thursday October 1, 2009:
